Using our Kayaks at Birchview Homestead

Updated: Aug 14, 2022

  • Our 3 kayaks are located at Main Lake from April 1 - October 31

  • Main Lake is marked on the community map, which we provide with your stay

  • Oars and life jackets will be available April 1 in our Equipment Area.

  • All 3 are green/yellow and have my name and phone number on them. They are also marked with a large "PH" (for "Pocono Homesteads").

  • Everyone using a kayak must wear a life jacket and an Amenity Badge.

  • Each kayak can hold a max of up to 3 people and 500lbs.

  • Children 13 and under must be with an adult in the kayak

  • If water gets in the kayak, drain the water out by twisting out the drain plug and lifting the opposite end of the kayak; replace drain plug

  • No swimming off the kayak: lake swimming only in the roped area by the beach.

Access and Lock:

The kayaks are locked on a boat rack. Please help us keep our rack spaces and kayaks safe:

  • Lock code is included in our Check-in Message on Airbnb (5 days before Check-in).

  • When using the kayaks, ensure the lock chain is wrapped around the rack in the space to prevent others from "claiming" the empty space.

  • When finished kayaking, place the kayak(s) back in the same rack space.

  • Chain should be looped through the kayak handle (front of kayak) and looped through the inner rack. Test to be sure that the lock cannot slip off the rack when locked.

Things to Know:

  • Kayaks have built in oar rests to help you row easier.

  • Foot rest design ensures people of all heights can be comfortable.
